Because [info]notmonochrome's bored

It's time to play your favorite game and mine... Bob Dylan or Weird Al?!

Listed below are two sets of lyrics. Bob wrote one, Al wrote the other. Do you know which is which?

First Set
Rise to vote, sir
Do geese see God?
"Do nine men interpret?" "Nine men," I nod
Rats live on no evil star
Won't lovers revolt now?

Second Set
See the primitive wallflower freeze
When the jelly-faced women all sneeze
Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze
I can't find my knees"

If I had to guess (and I do)...

If I had to guess (and I do), I'd say the first set is Weird Al and the second is Dylan. They're both admirably random-sounding, but the first one is composed entirely of palindromes, which seems too self-consciously clever for Dylan. The second one, on the other hand, just sounds like a bad drug trip. (And can't you just *hear* Dylan's voice whining "I can't find my knees"?)

I'm going to wager a guess, too.

That's exactly what I was going to say, right down to hearing Dylan's voice.

Re: If I had to guess (and I do)...

ohmygod, I am SO not a puzzler - I never would have noticed the palindrome phenomenon.

But I can hear Dylan's voice - and I side with you.

I'm gonna go First Set is Bob, Second Set is Al.

You should do this every day.

You have a copy of Blonde On Blonde signed by Bob Dylan's drummer?!?!?!?

(I know. I just wish.)

The second set is from "Visions of Johanna" by Bob Dylan, from the album Blonde on Blonde.

Maybe I should disqualify myself...

We named our daughter after the Dylan song quoted here, and the other quote is currently my favorite Weird Al song. I'm glad to see there is disagreement on which is which.

Dylan or Al?

Maybe it's unfair, but as an Al fan, I can tell the difference. The first is Al, the second is Dylan. The lyrics from Al are from "Bob", on the CD Poodle Hat.

I can't believe the number of folks that didn't catch the palindromes in the Weird Al lyrics. Being someone who has toyed with creating palindromes, I think it's amazing how Al created so many, and then manages to make each lyric doublet rhyme! I bust a gut everytime I see the video.

Want to say to my friend Jeff, congratulations on the palindrome "No sir pa, still it's a prison."
